Greetings New Initiate of Tau
Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Society,
I would personally
like to welcome you to the Zeta Beta Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma National
Honorary Band Society. We are excited that you have accepted to be involved in
our program within the Marching Crimson Piper Band. We couldn’t be more excited
in your diligence and acceptance into our chapter of Tau Beta Sigma.
As we journey of
the path of sisterhood and growth, I encourage you to take advantage of our
programs of community development, educational achievement, and music
appreciation both on the national and chapter level. It is important to keep an
open mind during your exploration into the organization.
From a peer standpoint, I would
like to offer you some my own advice and personal experiences from when I was a
new member of the Zeta Beta Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma. Upon acceptance into
this organization, you will be faced with challenging yourself physically and
mentally, and it is very important to remain spiritually sound with yourself.
Always remember who you were walking into this new chapter of your life and
keep an open mind to embrace self-development.
In the “Eight
Essential Factors” which promote friendship and respect, my favorite line is, “Tolerance,
tempered with kindness and a consideration for the needs of others.” This quote
asks you to always remain kind natured no matter the obstacle in your path of
development. I personally used this
quote to keep myself motivated during my years in Tau Beta Sigma. There will be
days when you are challenged and it is important to not lash out but to remain
tolerant in new environments and situations. Remember, your problem just
doesn’t just affect you; it affects all of us because we are all bonded in this
organization through sisterhood.
This is an
exciting time for us to get to know each other outside of the band program.
Because of your exceptional service to the Marching Crimson Piper Band, we are
eagerly excited to see what ideas and goals you bring not only to our chapter
but to the community. We have set up a meeting that will put you in contact
with all of the departments as well as the chapter members that you will be
working with this school term.
If you have any
questions or concerns please feel free to contact me personally at [email protected] or (205)
and thank you again for your service and dedication to the Zeta Beta Chapter.
We really look forward to working with you!
